It is a plan for fitting the parts of a project onto full sheets before cutting. The diagram helps you see whether a part fits, where to leave room for the blade kerf, and which offcuts may be useful later.
How much space should I allow for the saw kerf?
Use the width of your actual saw blade; for many table-saw blades that is about 1/8 inch. Include that space between adjacent parts, and leave extra trimming allowance when an edge needs to be squared after breaking down a sheet.
